A SYSTEM FOR TOTAL FITNESS

Our formats are built on proven fitness principles so you can book your workout with your fitness goal in mind. Or simply choose based on what feels right that day.

Each format emphasizes a different aspect of fitness, but all are full-body. Together, they work as a system, building lean muscle, endurance, mental health, heart health, and confidence. For those looking to improve strength and bone density, try our Reformer-based Strength format. Pilatesmith offers a comprehensive approach to fitness through Athletic Pilates - designed to deliver real results now, and support your body over time.

We recommend mixing it up across the system to stay balanced, challenged, and engaged - without plateauing or burning out.

Mat Workout FAQs

What are the benefits of Mat Pilates?

Mat Pilates offers the same benefits as Pilates done on a Reformer - it improves your strength, mobility, stability, and fitness. Mat Pilates doesn’t require you to know how to use the Reformer so it can make Pilates feel more accessible and less daunting.

How is Mat Pilates different from Reformer Pilates?

Mat Pilates relies on your body weight for resistance, while Reformer Pilates uses the Reformer - a spring-loaded resistance machine - for added resistance

What equipment do I need to bring?

We have everything you’ll need from mats to props! Feel free to bring your own mat if you want.

Do you offer Mat Pilates at both your studios?

No, at this time we only offer Mat Workouts at our Culver City studio.

Do I need experience to start?

Our workouts start at the intermediate level, so intermediate skill level and fitness level are required. If you want to learn the Pilates method, start with a Private and note that you are interested in learning Mat vs. Reformer.

Took a Heated Mat Pilates class and enjoyed it so much! The class was challenging, fun, and just the right temp too. Can’t wait to take another class!

CULVER STUDIO LOCATION

Located directly off Washington at 12450 Washington Blvd at the southeast corner of Washington and Kenyon Ave. We’re right before the stoplight at Washington and Centinela next door to Menotti's Coffee Stop, and steps from Hatchet Hall.

I’m an avid Pilates goer and I really enjoyed the Mat Pilates class I tried here and felt a good amount of soreness the next day. The space is beautiful and has a good vibe. It’s great to find a studio that offers both mat and reformer because that can be hard to find.”
